Remy Martin hardly needs an introduction, but few know that the firm has been producing cognac since the early eighteenth century. When a young winegrower received a rare permission from King Louis XV to plant new vines in recognition of his excellent cognac, few could have imagined that it would lead to the creation of one of the most recognisable spirit brands in the world. Remy’s passed on the mantle to his grandson, and later to trusted partners who established the brand’s first VSOP Fine Champagne cognac in the early twentieth century.
