Description

O'Cathain 8 Year Old Single Malt Irish Whiskey is a new Irish Whiskey released in 2016. It was triple distilled at the Cooley Distillery which is located on the Cooley Peninsula in County Louth. The distillery was founded in 1987 by John Teeling who turned it from a potato schnappes distillery into a whiskey distillery and went on to have massive success with Irish Whiskey brands such as Kilbeggan, Connemara and Tyrconnell. The whisky is named after the ins who were widely known as the warrior clan of Ulster. On May 14th 1260, this warrior clan, were defeated at the Battle of Down by the mighty Normans. No less than 150 Cathain chiefs lost their lives in the battle. True victory however, lies with the descendants, now known as O'Kane, who have selected and bottled this fine Irish Whiskey to commemorate their ancestors. The label is decorated with a scene depicting the Battle of Down.
