Bin 311 Chardonnay is sourced to style from a single, cool-climate (and some would say risky, marginal) region. In 2015, fruit sourcing has again come from Tumbarumba , one of Australia's most exciting, cool-climate, high-altitude, viticultural districts. The Bin 311 style typically exhibits a mineral acid backbone, complemented by barrel fermentation and maturation in seasoned oak. Citrus notes, compliments of Tumbarumba are what you will first pick up. This is neatly followed up by a palate of fresh nectarine and white stone fruit flavours

Description
Wines from the Southern Hemisphere are more often than not referred to as 'New World' and there is little argument (from us at least) that the history of wine making in Europe outstretches that of the Southern Hemisphere by quite a distance. Penfolds, though, has been around for the vast majority of the last 200 years when wine has been known to have been produced in Australia (being established in 1844) and so has seen and weathered much of what the 'New World' has experienced. The company's accolades are too lengthy to mention here, but there is little doubt that they produce something for everyone without veering away from the essential essence of quality.
