Glenmorangie The Nectar D'Or Whisky, 70 cl

Glenmorangie uses some of the tallest stills in Scotland meaning that the ethers during distillation are incredibly light. This translates directly to the taste- light, fruity and incredibly accessible. The house is also based in Tain which has its own little micro climate meaning that it is relatively mild weather. Add into the mix that they own and use their own water springs and you have a delectably consistent whisky on your hands.

Description

Dr Bill Lumsden, Head Distiller at Glenmorangie, is one of the most respected men in the industry. He was one of the first to start experimenting with different styles of casks to age his whiskies in some 20 years ago. The Nectar d'Or is an updated version of an old Suaternes Finish with the whisky now aged initially for 10 years in ex Bourbon casks and then finished off for 2 years in ex Sauternes casks. Not only that, but the whisky is non chilled filtered which has the advantage of creating a richer rounder texture. If you are trying to convert a female friend to whisky I highly recommend this as the place to start.

Tasting notes

The sauternes casks embellish the classic attributes of Glenmorangie with a uniquely luscious mouthfeel coupled with notes of lemon tart, soft ginger bread, toasted almonds and a hint of nutmeg.
